Save energy by searching the web with Google

Google created http://blackle.com/ to save energy. Blackle saves energy because the screen is black. The idea came from Mark Ontkush. In his blog from January 20th he explains the math coming from the idea. 200 million queries per day process is a huge number. I knew as everybody else that Google was used a lot, but 200 million per day is why Google has so much cash.

A great idea if you ask me, From now on, I'll be searching the web with blackle as well as turning off my computer overnight. I'll be changing VS2005 and VS2008 to black background and even outlook, soon you'll find Community Server with a black background as well. Some day I'll even get a Toyota Prius, hey wait, I already ride a motocycle to work to save the planet without any tax deduction.

Another thing you can do to save some energy is to recycle you water bottle at work, I do not mean to put it in the recly bin, I mean to re-use the botle and refill it again with water.

Cheers

Al

Take care of your eyes. It's vary uncomfortable to work with white-on-black scheme. And by the way, most types of the LCD monitors uses MORE power for displaying black pixel then white one :) Did you see the LCD monitors with bad pixels? That pixels are white in most cases.
var map = null; function GetMap() { map = new VEMap('myMap'); map.LoadMap(); } GetMap();
