Android still does not look as good as the iPhone front end.
Google releases another great product, an SDK for mobile phones. A common front end, was about time somebody created something like that. Wait, didn't Microsoft release Pocket PC around 2000? Microsoft created an OS for mobile devices, Google just created an SDK that will run on top of mobile devices to generate the front end for your phone/PDA.
I have been keeping an eye on Android since I learned on the Google effort. There was a speculation of Google creating a competitor for the iPhone, the gPhone. All these rumors were incorrect, Android is just an SDK for mobile devices with a nice front end, however I was wishing that Google will try to create a front end as good or better than the iPhone front end. Looking at the demo, I don't think they even came close to that mark.
The SDK is Java, and relies on Linux version 2.6. You can find the kernel here.
Cheers
